The Lyleton Station was completed in April 1903 with the official opening by the C.P.R. on June 7, 1903. Passenger service varied through the years.  In 1910 there were 6 trains a week.  By 1935 passenger service dropped to 3 trains a week.  Gradually rail service to Lyleton suffered the same fate as many other rural prairie communities.  Despite strong support from the community to maintain rail service the Lyleton Station was closed in 1971.  The station building was then moved to its present location at Lake Metigoshe.  Maps from 1898 referred to Metigoshe as “Lizzie Lake”, thus the Station's present day name.

The nostalgic station office still features the original ticket window and beautiful woodwork, and the waiting room is where you will find the Station pool table.
